9 Special Things To Celebrate Being Single

It is hard to remind yourself why being single is a good idea, but there are some really good perks to not worrying about your significant other. It is easy to feel left out; like you are the only single person in the world. It is also important to remember that not everyone is in a relationship, and it is even more important to remember that there are more important things to focus on than being in a committed relationship.
Few reasons why you should celebrate being single
Here’s how to happy being single and a few other things to celebrate if you are not in a relationship.
1. Crushes
Being in a relationship can certainly be a wonderful thing. It is great to have a relationship with someone who has always been there for you, or with someone you know well enough to not have to revisit all of the “what does this mean” stuff in a relationship.
However—sometimes it is even nicer to just have a simple, meaningless crush on someone. Celebrate that!
You aren’t really supposed to have a crush if you are in a relationship. That means being single is your only shot—so enjoy it now!
2. Falling in love
Though being in a relationship is an incredible thing, it is so special to fall in love. If you are not currently in a relationship, it is almost inevitable that you will fall in love again, one day. Even if you are not currently falling in love, you can celebrate the inevitability of falling in love again one day.

3. Your career
Though we are often taught to focus on one another, pursuing your career can be a really positive thing, especially if you do not have a relationship to focus on in the meantime.
If you are not currently in a relationship, spend your extra free time advancing in your career.
Work harder than ever and get that promotion, or whatever else you might be going for at the time!
4. Traveling
Traveling with your significant other can be a really beautiful thing, however, traveling alone can be incredibly exhilarating. If you are not in a relationship, you are able to plan whatever vacation you want, whenever you want, for however long you want. Take advantage of being single and go wherever you have always dreamed of going!
5. Perfecting your Hobbies
Do you knit? Do you write? Do you love reading ten books a month? Whatever hobby you prefer, not being in a relationship allows you to spend more time working on it. Hobbies can easily transition into being a profitable investment, or even a potential resume builder. If you have the time, take advantage of it and celebrate having a hobby worth spending time with.
6. Spending Time with your Friends
Though your friends and your relationship can certainly overlap, there is something really special about spending quality time with your pals. If you are not in a relationship, it is inevitable that your friends will get more time with just you.
Even if you are in a relationship that combines your partner with your friends, there is something really special about being able to spend alone time with your friends. If you are not in a relationship, hanging out with just your friends is definitely something to celebrate.

7. Going to Sleep early / Sleeping in
Now, sleeping-in or going to sleep early is absolutely an attainable thing to do while in a relationship, however it is not always plausible. When you are not in a relationship, sleeping on your own schedule is not only plausible but it is absolutely possible. Sleep in if you want to sleep in. Get up early if you would like to get up early. Go to sleep at 7:00 at night, or 3:00 in the morning. When you are not in a relationship, whatever time works for you is what works.
8. Having free time
Celebrate your free time, singles!
- Maybe you do not have a hobby.
- Maybe you do not have a job that takes all of your free time.
- Maybe you do not have a huge social life.
- Maybe you like to read your books, or write in your journal, or pet your cat or dog.
No matter what you choose to do in your free time, the point is, you can do it!
9. Volunteering
When is the last time you combed through your community’s volunteer opportunities? If you are not currently in a relationship, perhaps you have the time to volunteer for your favorite non-profit in town.
There have been plenty of studies on volunteering that connect genuine happiness and a high sense of well-being with people who volunteer. Instead of dwelling on your relationship status, celebrate being able to help other people (or animals!) in need.
