Peaceful Mind – A key to Happiness

Peaceful Mind

Real happiness is born out of a peaceful mind. If you are not satisfied or content internally, nothing external can provide you with placidity and joy. Declutter your Mind, for happiness always comes in small packages. Lighten up, keep it simple and love yourself. This is the key to happiness.

Happiness and our Dependence on the Senses

Many people are of the thought that they can derive happiness only out of enjoyment of sense objects. Such people fail to understand that, even this kind of happiness is not devoid of any kind of dependence. Such happiness cannot transcend the limitations of time and space.

Set peace of mind as your highest goal, and organize your life around it. ~ Brian Tracy (Tweet this)

The objects that are giving you the desired happiness may be available to you at one point of time and space, but not at the other.

Direction of your Thoughts

Steer your mind in the right direction. Control the direction of your thoughts. Check if your mind always broods over the past and do you tend to evaluate your present based on the bygone? If yes, quit this habit right away. The past is over. It will never return.

Look ahead

One needs to have a blend of philosophical and scientific approaches on the way to seeking meaning out of their day-to-day life. God has placed eyes in the front part of your head and not in the rear part. Look forward to create a better future, while being vigilant enough not to get so absorbed in the thoughts of the distant future that you remain unaware of the ground you are treading on and stumble.

Live in the Present

Alertness is the secret to happiness. If by any chance you keep thinking about a particular thing or a set of incidences that gave you happiness at some point of time, then your mind will keep craving similar things to take place again to make you happy. Your joy will be circumscribed by a pre-set circle and you will never be able to free yourself from its clutch.

So, it is important to be wide awake and watchful for everyday happenings that can give you the desired happiness.

You are a Blissful Soul

The inherent characteristic or quality of every soul is that it is blissful. Desire fulfillment and absence of sorrow are just the ‘false’ mediums that only ‘appear’ to be leading to happiness. We can call such things just ‘symptoms’ and not the characteristics of happiness.

My granny passed away last year, after suffering from paralysis for eight long years. My mother was much grieved at the loss of her mom.

I know that it is very difficult to console someone over such a sensitive issue (such as the demise of one’s parent), but seeing my mom much saddened, I tried to tell her to look at it from another point of view.

I told her that, God had relieved the departed one from a painful life. It really must not have been easy for her to spend such a long span of time confined to her bed. Instead of feeling sorrowful, we must pray for the departed soul.

Life is transient. We are here for a short span of time. Is it wise to spend such a precious human life submerged in sorrowful thoughts, jealousy, revenge etc.?

Conclusion

A mirror that is clean reflects a clear image of the person looking into it, but if the mirror is filled with filth and dirt on its surface, it cannot produce a clean image. If your mind is pure and tranquil; you have the key to permanent happiness.
