Life Has to Move On

Life has to move on

Water is just like life—when stagnant, it starts stinking. A river is beautiful only because it keeps flowing. In the same way, we need to flow with the current of our everyday life. There will be high tides and low tides. But life has to move on.

These may have an effect on our speed and intensity, but coming to a standstill will result in failure. Still water starts giving off a very bad odor and then the water turns mossy. The same will happen with our life. So we have to be like a flowing river—clean and clear. Again, life has to move on.

Balance your emotions

As the Bhagvad Gita says, you have to treat the opposites in the same way. You should not go overboard when happy and neither should you clam up while facing a failure. You have to train to balance your feelings, your emotions, and your behavior at every turn life takes.

Achieving such a balance is not easy. It could be tougher than walking a tightrope. But, once you taste the satisfaction in balancing yourself through thick or thin, you can manage everything. There will be no stopping you.

Rule your mind or it will rule you

In any case, it is mostly your own mind-set that stops you, rather than external factors. If you train your mind to be your subordinate and not your boss, it will always help you and guide you in the right direction just like a true friend.

First, be a good friend to yourself and you will make a lot of good friends in the long run.

Friends are Important

Choosing our family or relatives is not in our hands, however, the kind (and number) of friends that we make in our lifetime is. Our friends reflect our own inner being.

They are the people with whom we can just be our true selves. Their unconditional love could even be compared favorably with the love of parents towards their children.

Friends are those who are just “there” in times of need and also in times when there is no need. In short they will always be there. They will be your shoulder to cry on, and make you their pitcher, into which they pour their emotions.

But Good Friends are Lifesavers

Hence, it is very important to make the right kind of friends. The wrong kind can bring out the dark, recessed side of you. Beware of that kind. If people close to you feel that you have changed for the worse, because of your friends, it will be beneficial for you to listen to them and check your friendships instead of turning a deaf ear to their pleas.

A real friend has the courage to check you when you are wrong. He or she will not hesitate in pointing out your wrong ways so as to enable you to correct yourself while time permits. Such an attitude on your part towards the idea of self-reform will enable you to take criticism in your stride. This is what will help you stand strong during trying situations and maintain the flow of life.

Criticism is as Essential as Praise

Praise is nice and gives you a warm feeling all over. But it is also good to receive criticism once in a while. You are not perfect. No one is.
Nobody is perfect in this world.

Criticism should be taken constructively. An open mind would help you deal with difficult situations in an easier way. You don’t have to believe everything people say.

You are responsible for your life. You can’t keep blaming somebody else for your dysfunction. Life is really about moving on. ~ Oprah Winfrey (Tweet this)

My final thoughts? Yes . . . life has to move on.

As life is meant to be lived lightly, too many expectations, too much confusion, should be avoided to maintain continuity of life.
