How to Look Younger

We all love to look younger and get complimented on our glowing skin and youth. Don’t we love it when we tell our age to someone and get a response like ‘Oh my god you don’t look that old. I thought you were at least 5-7 years younger.’ While we cannot stop our biological age we can sure slow down the process of aging quite a bit by just taking care of ourselves.

Follow these simple rules to look younger and feel younger:

1. Wear sunscreen

Be it for Sun, rain, hail or storm, always wear a sunscreen which has both a UVA- and UVB-protection formula. This prevents skin from sun damage, wrinkles, skin cancer and dullness. There are loads on the market. Buy a good quality one suiting your skin type.

2. Drink fluids

Drink lots and lots of water to stay hydrated. Dehydration leads to skin dullness, dark circles and other health issues. A hydrated body looks young and fresh. Colas and sodas—even diet ones—and other carbonated beverages are not fluids for hydration. Steer clear of them. 3. Sleep

Sleep at least 7 hours a day. Tiredness leads to grouchiness and the body and face to look haggard and stressed. Beauty sleep is what you need. Turn of the TV/computer at least an hour before you hit the bed to get a good night’s sleep.

4. Eat right

Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables to clear your body of toxins. Avoid excessive fried and processed foods. Maintain a healthy diet eating small meals every 2-3 hours.

5. Use a retinoid

One of the best ways to slow down the aging clock and stay young is with a retinoid-based cream. Retinoid cremes minimize the appearance of existing age spots and fine lines plus prevents new ones from forming. There are a lot of varieties available on the market from popular brands like Ponds, L’Oreal, Vichy, etc. Check and consult with the sales personnel about the retinoid content.

6. Be active

Activity increases blood circulation and presto you have glowing and young skin. Exercise at least 3-times-a-week and ensure you include strength and cardio in your workout. This helps to keep the skin elasticity.

7. Maintain a healthy weight

Keep within your healthy weight range. If you can maintain your best weight between the time you were 18 and 25 you can look almost 10 years younger. However, do not indulge in crash dieting and drastic weight loss as it affects the elasticity of you skin. Extreme weight loss can lead to looking older and duller. Lose your weight slowly in a healthy way and through proper diet and exercise.

8. Avoid tobacco and alcohol

Smoking destroys collagen and elastin and decreases levels of estrogen, which is necessary to keep skin firm—so quit if you do. If you must indulge in alcohol, do it in absolute moderation.

9. Relax

Finally and importantly: relax. Enjoy a stress free life and positive life. Take time out. Take a vacation and enjoy time with family and friends. Happiness reduces years from your face. Stress causes cells to age faster which shows on your skin. Of course don’t forget to add that smile to look young and happy.
