From Good to Great

Good to Great

Heading from good to great is not as difficult as it seems. A tree is no different from the seed. We all are evolving with time. Personal development is an ever-continuing process. It has a vast realm encompassing improvement on the facets of self-awareness, health, wealth and so on. Being alive means being involved in constant change.

Life is flooded with experiences. With the tides of smiles and frowns, the pendulum of life keeps swinging. Thanks to technology, the common man’s lifestyle has changed dramatically. Economic changes, environmental deterioration as well as social changes have drastically altered the way of life in past the two decades.

Center and Circumference

The young generation has a different perspective to look at the terms “success” and “growth.” To them, the materialistic aspect of these terms is the goal of life. They are of the belief that only set patterns in life can lead to happiness.

A bread-winning education, money, and competing to stay ahead in all walks of life (be they professional or personal) is their only motto. What they are not realizing is that they are missing the sense of wholeness and peace in this rat-race. The process of personal development once initiated with a will to improve, never stops. It has no boundaries.

Keep Practicing

We all are bestowed with latent talents. But just the way a sapling has to make efforts to crack the seed and come out, we too need to turn our innate talents into expertise and contribute our share to the society. As the young population, it is our responsibility to give back to society and realize that this too is an important yardstick for success.

In our school days, we were taught to analyze each day; what we did wrong and what we did right. The more we can visualize on each aspect of an activity, the more we move forward on the path of self-improvement.

No Shortcuts

There is no substitute to hard work. This does not mean that you have to go out in the sun and break rocks for personal development but there has to be a continuous focus and natural concentration to do regular things.

It is necessary to try to surpass one’s self always; this occupation ought to last as long as life. ~ Queen Christiana. (Tweet this)

The monotony of everyday routine life or any unexpected external event should not disturb your alignment within the dimension of self-awareness and consciousness. This is no rocket science. It is all about engrossing yourself in the task at hand and not worrying about the results. As the wise say, whatever happens, happens for good.

The Right Balance

Abilities and challenges should be matched. When a toddler tries to stand on his feet, he is not asked to run and catch his bus to school. Similarly, growth and development take place at their own pace. It is a process that requires time. You cannot write the whole script of your life in one day but definitely, you can write one page each day.

You are the pilot of your life. If the opposing wind is too strong, you still need to develop the ability to fly safe with self-control, zeal, persistence and self-motivation. Unlocking the stores of creativity, inspiration, productivity, and joy are all in your own hands.

The words of Swami Vivekananda, “Arise! Awake! And stop not till the goal is reached,” transformed masses, inspiring them to give-up self-centered lives for the cause of building the nation.

Conclusion – From Good to Great

Greatness is not a function of circumstance. Greatness, it turns out, is largely a matter of conscious choice, and discipline. ~ Jim Collins (Tweet this)

A change in your thought process can lead to a transformation in life. A sense of gratitude along with faith and belief can lead to a breakthrough in life, from good to great.
