Recovering From Trauma

Recovering From Trauma

Life is not a bed of roses. In our journey of life, most of us confront unfortunate accidents or incidents at some or the other point. Often, our expectations also make our lives take an unknown turn. Let us learn how to deal with life after facing a shattering trauma. Recovering from trauma is very difficult. Responding in a controlled way to such situations can aid you in coping with them.

Case Study

Paige was an independent working woman with high goals in life. Her goals were not baseless either, as she was doing very well in all walks. But destiny had something unexpected in store. For some unfortunate reason her marriage did not work. It was not that she did not try her best to save the knot that she had lovingly tied with her husband and given her many long years into it.

But there are many things that are beyond one’s control. As she walked out of her home with a heavy heart, she did not know that eventually she was losing herself as she simply could not accept what had happened in her life.

If we look around, we will find many instances of failures, accidents, chronic illness, break-ups or death of near-and-dear ones that make people turn away from their real self. They lose all hope and turn out to be completely different individuals.

Recovering From Trauma – The Brighter Side

Every cloud has a silver lining. This means whatever happens, happens for good. Life has got a lesson for us in every incident. It is up to us to be open enough to accept and learn from those lessons.

Never say, why me? This would mean you are thinking that the same unfortunate incident should have taken place with someone else! This is not right. It is better to learn from our mistakes, so as to be alert henceforth. Also, don’t repent for losses or any other such thing. Start your life afresh. Make a new beginning. You just need to change your perspective. Step out and see the world, realize that the world is beautiful.

Life Goes On

Time and tide wait for none. Life goes on, so why should you keep standing at one place? All you need to do is to strike a balance in your emotions. Don’t let the bitter memories of the past haunt you.

Life has a lot of better things to offer; enjoy them. If you fail to maintain your composure at a juncture when life tests you, you might miss a lot.

Self-Help

Though it is difficult to be optimistic at all times, you can very well afford to be realistic at least. Realize that you are not the only one in the world who has faced an incident of this sort. Such incidents happen with others too and they also learn to cope up with it and continue a happy life as before.

In the process of healing yourself, try to keep your mind occupied. Don’t brood over the past. Try to spend your time creatively. Your creativity can help heal the sorest wounds.

People who endure traumatic experiences are scarred, but recovering from trauma is very important to bring your life back on track. Talk to yourself. Self-counseling helps best to understand and calm your mind. Take things as a passing phase of life. Nothing is permanent. Things do change and if you firmly believe, they change for the better.
