Arguably the best part of a wedding is the dancing – from the first dance between the special couple, to the last dance of the night. If you are looking for ideas, here is a well-rounded wedding song playlist. Some might even say it’s the best.

1. Best of My Love – The Emotions

There are a handful of songs that make everyone feel good, no matter what. The Emotions’ “Best of My Love” is one of those songs. Everyone wants to dance when they hear the lyrics, “Don’t take much to make me happy.” Who doesn’t feel good when the ladies sing about the best of their love, and changes, and, well, the overwhelming feeling of love. It is a wedding must.

2. Love Shack – The B-52s

No matter how old you are or where you are from, you have most likely heard the song “Love Shack.” This song is one of the most laid-back, danceable songs of all time. It is immediately recognizable, absolutely catchy, and impossible to not move your body to. Weddings were made for “Love Shack.”

3. Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

Though there are numerous versions of this song, there is none more romantic than Gaye and Terrell’s. One of the most romantic songs ever written, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” expertly tells the tale of a couple that will be there for each other through anything. Okay, so the lyrics do not entirely represent the point of a wedding, but no one can argue that this song is not a blast to dance to. The Temptations were one of the most well loved singing groups of all time, and everyone will be happy to hear them at a wedding.

Whitney Houston was one of the best, most famous divas in the history of music. Though she has a million songs to dance to—including “I Want to Dance With Somebody,” her song “I Have Nothing” is a lot more indicative of what a wedding means. The song is a good combination of slow and quick—perfect for any kind of dancing the wedding audience is feeling at the time.

7. Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey

If you need to get a crowd moving, play “Don’t Stop Believin’.” The ‘80s hit was popular when it came out and it has never stopped, well, believin’. The song is happy, inspirational, and for some reason, a real hit at weddings. Though it is not directly related to love or weddings, the song inspires hope in everyone that comes across it.

Stevie Wonder is one of the most talented, romantic singer / songwriters in history. Though there are plenty of Wonder songs one can choose from to play at their wedding, “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” is a really perfect song for romantics. One of the newer songs on this list, there is nothing happier than “Happy.” Pharrell Williams’ motivational anthem celebrates life by encouraging people to be happy. The perfect song to dance to, Williams’ reminds you that happiness is the truth.

No wedding is complete without James’ classic love song, “At Last.” Covered many times, James’ is still the most classic. Used for first dances, middle-of-the-weddings, and even Presidential Inaugurations, “At Last” is a beautiful tune for a romantic dance.

11. Marry You – Bruno Mars

It is in the title. Mars gives us a great song to have a great time to. The song is upbeat and fun; romantic and encouraging. It is a perfect song to walk down the aisle to, or to boogey to on the dance floor, or to just celebrate the wondrous unity of two people at any point.

12. What a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong

What is better than “trees of green, and red roses too”? Not much. The gorgeous Armstrong classic is a perfect wedding song because it celebrates exactly what people love about the world. The world, in all of its disappointment and sadness, is ultimately wonderful. Play it and you will see why.

What is a wedding without The Beatles? The iconic song “All You Need is Love” is a great song for a wedding, because, well, all you need is love.

Speaking of the aforementioned Temptations, the song “My Girl” is great for a wedding. It works for familial relationships for a newfound marital unity, or for a group of pals. Not only is its significance important – it is catchy and fun to dance to.

15. PYT – Michael Jackson

Some songs are just pure fun to dance to, and “PYT” is no difference. Jackson has plenty of songs to choose from when it comes to weddings, but “PYT” is familiar and absolutely a blast. Stick it on your wedding song playlist and have a great night.
