Love Yourself – You are Worth It!

Love yourself for you are worth it. Love is the purpose of your existence. It begins with you. Love yourself for who you are and what you have. Make efforts to carve a beautiful life out of the one given to you.

Do you think that self love is selfish or egoistic or boasting about yourself? Not exactly, it depends on your perspective of self love. Self love can be attributed to facts that tell about your confidence, your success or the goodness that you have within you.

It does not have to be arrogance or over confidence. We all love ourselves in our own ways and for reasons that are quite apparent. Reasons which stem through various experiences in life . . . from bad to good, this is where your journey begins that has been either happy or sad.

To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh (Tweet this)

Accepting yourself

What I would like to clarify here is that when you love yourself, you accept who you are—your weaknesses and your strengths. You know what you want and what you don’t. You are clear about your values and think in that way. You accept yourself as you are and thus experience happiness within yourself. It benefits when you first love yourself and are contended within. You begin to look at others in a more loving way and find peace.

Sometimes you might be generous towards others and be helpful, but not when it comes to celebrating yourself. Yes, it is not wrong to love yourself, to live and feel happiness. This shows that you love the world around you and everything in it.

The most powerful relationship you will ever have is the relationship with yourself. ~ Steve Maraboli (Tweet this)

In good times and bad

Well this is it, you have to love yourself in bad times, which means when you do not have any bank balance left or have lost a job. It does seem counter-intuitive, but believe me this is the time where you most have to take care of yourself. You have to celebrate that you are the way you are. Simply take it as a mistake and do not think low of yourself.

You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection. ~ Siddhartha Gautama Buddha (Tweet this)

Do not let yourself feel that you are not good enough or cannot perform certain tasks. Take it in your stride. You do not deserve it . . . there is more to you than just your present position.

How to love yourself

Loving yourself is important. You see self love is at the core of well-being and your ability to enjoy your life. It is not possible to enjoy life if you are not happy or at peace. You have a relationship with yourself, which means you have to give yourself some time to appreciate, love and be pampered.

This will simplify your relationship with others. It mirrors the aspects of relationship you have with yourself.

Effects of not loving yourself

  • If you hate yourself you are automatically going the negative way. You will be left with nothing but negative elements within you and will not be able to love anybody else. Until you love yourself you will never be at peace with your inner being and that will lead to loneliness and destruction. Worst still, even people around you will put you down and make you feel worse.
  • There is more to self love than just selfishness. Life is one long journey and you have to go through the ups and downs. In this journey you are accompanied by people who can be your spouse, siblings, friends, boss relatives etc. All are a part of your life. You need them to share, to love others. The feeling of love is incredible and you will want to love others just as you love yourself.
  • Until you start loving yourself, you cannot overcome the inner conflict that holds you from moving towards inner bliss.
  • There are hard times, but being considerate towards yourself can be helpful. Loving yourself is different from selfishness. Selfishness is not self love; it harms you and nothing more. It creates dissatisfaction and hatred towards everyone including self.

Love yourself. Smile and the world smiles with you. Changing the way you look at yourself will change the way you look at the world. Self-love will give you a world where you will be satisfied and happy, whereas selfishness leads to self destruction!
