Karma – Desire Fulfillment and Pursuit of Pleasures

Karma, Pursuit of Pleasures

Religions all over the world including Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism etc. emphasize the importance of ‘Karma,’ or your own deeds. It is a common belief amongst all faiths that ‘You reap that you sow.’ In the working of the entire Universe, Newton’s Third Law holds true in all respects. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

There is a common Law that governs everything around the globe and beyond. In the scriptures by holy Saints across the face of Earth it is particularly said that human life is above all other life forms.

This is not a baseless presumption. But, it is evident that humans are the only species with abilities far superior to others.

Many faiths preach of ‘a soul’ in every life form. It is believed that the soul upon the death of the body reincarnates and takes birth again and again until it attains salvation. But, people often ponder, when and how is salvation achieved?

According to this thought we are discussing, there is no complicated approach to it. We all are performing at the ‘Karmasthali’ or workplace. Here, we either perform good deeds or bad ones. Nature keeps its balance. There is an account for every soul.

The actions performed by the soul in its human life are calculated, and on the death of the human body the soul takes another birth according to its ‘karma’—the record that was kept of its actions in the human life.

The birth of the soul in other life forms is not considered for calculation of ‘karma’ as these life forms are as a result of penance out of bad deeds in another life as a human. The misfortunes a body confronts in its life are as a result of its own deeds in the same or some previous life.

When the sum of ‘good karma’ neutralizes the sum of entire ‘bad karma’ of an individual soul or in other words, when the soul has paid the penance for all its ‘bad karma,’ the soul attains salvation or gets rid of the vicious circle of life and death.

The above-discussed thought is purely mythological, yet it has deep meaning attached to it. For even those who eschew religion, faith and culture (and consider themselves to be scientific, rational thinkers), the words have meaning.

The world today is facing problems like unrest, infanticide, trafficking, and poverty, disharmony in professional and personal relations and so on.

No one and no place is left untouched. Each one of us seeks peace outside and within. In such circumstances, the more we try to get happiness, success and happiness with a wrong action; the more we deceive ourselves somewhere inside.

Maybe nobody else in the world comes to know of our wrong deeds but, our self finds us drowning within. Also scientifically, as every action has an equal and opposite reaction, we are made to pay for all we do.

It is never too late to start. Now is the right time to decide and begin to make this world and your life better.

Karma – Conclusion

Through Karma one learns to drop their regrets, feverishness and anxiety. One should learn from the past, plan for the future and act well in the present.

Karma is meant for one to discover maturity by going through the experiences of life and seeing the limitations of pursuits of power, pleasure and prestige.
