It may seem silly to need an instructional manual to answer a question as simple as how do you know if a guy likes you, but we have all been there. If you are not sure about the feeling being mutual, looking for these signs, will help you get your answer.

How do you know if a guy likes you back?

In the height of having feelings for someone, our insecurities are also through the roof. Even if it may seem obvious to other people, sometimes it is hard for us to step back and realize that, “Yes! This guy definitely likes me.” Here are some pretty tell-tale signs that the apple of your eye may just feel the same way about you:

1. His body language

One of the quickest and easiest ways to answer “how do you know if a guy likes you,” is if his body is telling you so. Body language is so interesting and complex. It can help us tell if someone in a casual setting like a bar is interested in us and it can tell if someone we have known for most of our lives is interested in us. What else do you need, really? If your guy often keeps his body turned toward you, his feet pointing toward your feet, and his head tilted toward yours—chances are he is feeling a bit more than friendly toward you.

2. He makes physical contact

Body language is one thing, but have you noticed how often he touches you? If your love interest is reaching out and touching your knee after cracking a joke, or placing his hand on your lower back as you walk out of a building together, or helping you get hair out of your face, chances are he likes you. There is a difference between regular physical contact and intimate physical contact. Knees, lower backs, and heads are all very telling places to be gently touched—with your permission, of course!

3. He makes eye contact

Eye contact is one of the most important signs in telling if a guy likes you or not. It is human nature to look someone in the eye if you respect them, want their attention, or are trying to impress them. There is a difference between looking someone in their eye during a job interview and looking someone deep into their eyes when you have feelings for them.

If your guy is looking you in the eye, or you catch him looking at you when you aren’t paying attention, chances are he probably has feelings for you. Eye contact can be as important as physical contact.

4. He remembers the important things

Does your guy ask you questions that reference a previous conversation? If your love interest remembers to ask you how that nerve-wracking email went, or how your presentation at work ended up, chances are he is trying to tell you that he cares about you enough to remember the little things on your mind. If he knows your siblings’ names, your birthday, what you are doing this weekend, or any other little detail in your life, chances are he likes you as more than a friend.

5. He seems nervous

Though some of us stay slightly nervous around our crush for a long time, it is especially important in the beginning to note if he seems nervous around you. It is natural to feel nervous around a person you like, which we all know from having feelings for someone.

If he seems like he is drinking his beverage quickly, or if his brow is a tad shiny, or if his hands are sweaty, chances are he is nervous to be around you—which is actually a good sign! If a guy blushes in your presence or his voice quavers, take it as a compliment and a tell-tale sign that he’s into you.

6. He wants to see you

Though it may seem obvious, it is important to note that the guy who is making a solid attempt to see you on a regular basis probably likes you. If you think about it in terms of friendship, it will help clear up the question mark of how do you know if a guy likes you.

You probably don’t think twice about contacting your best friend for happy hour, dinner, a night on the town, or a jog—even if you have seen him or her multiple times that week, right? If your love interest makes plans to see you once or twice (or more!) a week, he definitely likes you. 7. He notices a haircut

He notices your haircut, your new color, your manicure, or a brand new pair of shoes—he just might be interested in being your man. This is not to say that no man ever notices a physical change in their friends, but if he is constantly complimenting you on tiny changes in your life and/or your appearance, chances are he is trying to show you that he is interested in you.

8. He initiates contact

Does he send you a good night or a good morning text message? Does he contact you if you haven’t talked in a couple of days? Does he “like” your Facebook status, tweets on Twitter, or Instagram posts? If he is consistently contacting you, he likes you. Something as simple as a text message is further proof that he wants you to know that you are on his mind—in the morning, at night, and throughout the day.

9. His smile is huge

This one is simple. Does he light up when you walk into the room? A smile is the biggest betrayer of our subtlety.

10. He tells you

Most importantly, what you want the most is for your guy to tell you that he likes you. Sure, actions speak louder than words, but there is nothing better than the validation of hearing someone tell you that they have feelings for you. We all want to be sure, even if the signs are all there. If he is bold enough to tell you he likes you, you will have no further doubt from there.

It’s a tricky situation, being in “like” with someone. Though there are a million ways to tell if a guy likes you, ultimately, you should be able to feel it.
