Happiness in Life – Prioritize your Way

Happiness in Life

In the 21 st century women have donned the mantle of jugglers; they work, take care of homes and raise children, and do it well too. Happiness in life changes the way we look at things. We can choose to be happy, and we can do a lot to add happiness to our lives.

How do women manage to multitask? Some would say it’s in their genes others that women are born managers. While it looks honky dory to most people, I as a working mother (and now grandmother) know how hard it can be sometimes when important work schedules loom over the needs of a sick child. It is all about getting priorities right.

Take Care of Yourself

In playing the role of career woman, wife and mother don’t neglect yourself. Make time for what you enjoy, take time off every now and then to curl up and read a book, go for a girl’s day out, wander around the streets or a museum or even go away on a personal trip. Many women lose their needs in the medley that’s work and family and become unhappy.

Remember no one is going to give you a medal for all the sacrifices that you make. There are books and videos that highlight how women can emerge victorious; it is all about priorities and being clever about organizing. Your husband, children, and boss must know that in all the roles you play there is embedded a “you” that has needs too.

Happiness in life is hard to define but most people are aware of whether they are happy or not. Many people believe that happiness is a form of luck and that some people are destined to be happy while others are destined to be unhappy.

Learn the mechanics, don’t bear all the responsibilities alone. Let your family and partner help too. Have a time-table in place and at a family meeting assign responsibilities. Did you know even a toddler will pitch in if you make it fun? A friend played a game with her two-year old twins, it was a race to see who could put away the largest number of toys, there was a treat awaiting the winner. Soon the twins learnt that toys were not to be strewn about.

Even while preparing food let it be a family affair. Children love to help and many husbands can too. Share all chores and in case a work schedule looms on the same day that your child runs a fever have a back up system in place; get a family member or friend to baby sit or ask the team at work to come over so that you can complete the work and keep an eye on the child.

Choose well. In life it’s important to make the right choices. When planning your career think what it is you want from life. Is it success at work, or is it a well-rounded life?

There are many choices. One can choose to nurture the corporate ladder and let a personal life be second or choose your personal life over the ladder at work.

Once when I was in a dilemma my mother said,

“Life has many paths you need to decide which one is important to you.

“At this moment your child needs you (my son needed constant medical care for his vision) and so take a deep breath and let go of regrets . . . .”

I chose taking care of my son over a much-awaited promotion that brought with it too many responsibilities.

Today I am glad I did so, I was able to nurture other talents like writing and this creative bent has brought many, many bushels of joy. Often, a choice one makes opens many doors and endless possibilities.

Conclusion – Happiness in Life

When I look at ancient sculptures in India of goddesses with many arms and weapons I feel that it actually signifies the ability of a woman to take on many responsibilities and play many roles being herself. (Tweet this)

It is possible you know, one can nurture oneself as a writer, manager, actor, bookseller, or business head and be wife, daughter, mother, friend, environmentalist and more.

Just try it, and never let the burden of life erase the laughter or joy. Learn to delegate and to let go. The truth of the matter is that happiness in life, like any thing else, needs to be nurtured.
